Deviation Actions
I've been wanting to do more stuff with my DeviantArt journals rather than just making song parodies. So I decided to use journals for something that journals are actually for. Writing about things on your mind. So I guess I'll discuss these two words: "popularity" and "opinions"
An opinion is a personal view on something that cannot be proven with actual facts, nor can it be considered true or false. When it comes to liking something, seeing other people's opinions on that thing could help you develop your own opinion on it. But sometimes we rely too much on other people's opinions to develop our own opinions. This is where the term "popularity" comes in. Popularity means the favor of the general public. General public. Not entire public. Popularity does not have to determine what YOU like. For example, people are saying that Undertale is dying. I can understand that. It was big back in late-2015, early-2016, but now we've moved on to other trends such as Overwatch or dabbing or describing something cool as "lit." But just because Undertale isn't as popular as it used to be, does that mean that we have to completely and utterly stop making content based off of it or even talking about it? OF COURSE NOT! If you feel like making content based on something that was popular 5 months, 10 months, or even 5 years ago, you still can do that. There's nothing stopping you.
But on the entire other end of the spectrum, doing stuff that isn't popular ALL the time may not be that good either. What I'm saying is that just because something is "mainstream" doesn't mean you have to dislike it. Take PewDiePie for example. He's one of the most popular YouTubers yet! And despite practically everyone liking him, that doesn't mean you can't. Let's go back to Undertale. I knew someone who said that they don't want to play it because everyone else is. That just doesn't make sense. Because everyone else plays it? Not because you've heard bad reviews or that you've seen someone else play it and it just didn't interest you? What?! If you don't play something because everyone else is, you won't even KNOW what it's like. Maybe it's a really good game and THAT'S why everyone likes it. As the old saying goes: "How do you know you don't like it if you've never tried it?" It just sorta ticks me off that there are people missing out on something that could be a really amazing thing just because it's "too mainstream."
AND! Just because a majority of people hate something, that doesn't mean you can't like it. Same thing if everyone loves something. You have full rights to hate it because YOU are in charge of YOUR own opinions.
Now I may or may not have described someone like you or you know. And if you did, you're probably a little peeved. Miffed. Ticked off. Other synonyms. And you have every right to be. I am just stating my own observations and opinions. If you like to keep up with the times and ignore anything not popular, then go ahead. If you like staying out of the times and avoiding things that are popular, feel free. If you totally agree with everything I just said, be my guest. Everyone is different. Everyone has different opinions. Not everyone can be the way you like it. All I'm saying is that maybe it's okay to deviate from what's popular or take a look at something in the now.
I have no idea how to end this properly, so I guess I'll just say bye.
Bye!

Check Me Out on Tapas (Plus a List of My Series)
Hey hey, people! I've got some big news! For as long as I could remember, I've been making characters and even thinking of brief stories about them. Back in like 2014, I started posting my first (and not finished at all) series Star Guardians on my own Wordpress site, which I eventually lost interest in more and more. Then came 2017 when I started making a whole new series, which you may know as Aberdeen's Anthology or any of its previous names of Plainwood, Pine Creek, and Normal. Since then, I've been posting characters and scenes without any intention of actually posting and sharing the stories I've privately been writing. But now! Now I finally gained enough confidence to show it off to all you lovely people, what with me now thinking of new stories a lot more now. Cutting to the chase, I have a Tapas account now, and it would mean the world to me if you went and checked out the stuff I have there. Right now, it's not a lot, but I'm planning on filling it up with more episodes and

A Brief Rant on Redesigns and the Like
Yes, Doki made a status about this, and I did a Random Community Survey on it, but I feel like I need to go further into this. Maybe a bit more brief than my other Brief Rants. But let's talk about something that I and pretty much any other original creator on DeviantArt can relate to: Making a character and then changing them up some time later. First, a bit of overview. People on DeviantArt are creative people. They draw their own characters, they come up with their own stories regarding them. That in itself is impressive already. Anyone can come up with a name and a flat personality, but it takes thought and effort to design them well and make them much more well-rounded and tolerable. Now, the actual topic. Why do people constantly make changes to their characters and stories? (Bear with me, since I'm using solely myself as evidence, and a lot of people can be different from me. But I'm willing to bet good money that what I'm going through is not too dissimilar to what other
